Menotti’s Book Shout Out: The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success
Today I would like to talk about one of my favorite books The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra. This book may seem short and simple but it is loaded with depth that can be read over and over again. This book imparts to the reader advice on how to live in the moment and gives suggestions on how to approach daily spiritual living.
First let me tell you a little bit about the author. Deepak Chopra began his career in the medical field, working with Western medicine in the United States. However, he soon became disenchanted with the Western approach and decided to dive into alternative medicine. Chopra met Maharishi Mahesh Yogi who inspired him to study Ayurveda. He eventually became the founding president of the American Association of Ayurvedic Medicine, and was later named medical director of the Maharishi Ayurveda Health Center.
In 1996, Chopra and neurologist David Simon founded the Chopra Center for Wellbeing, which incorporated Ayurveda in its regimen. Chopra also established the Chopra Foundation in 2009 with the purpose of advancing the cause of mind/body spiritual healing, research, and education. His goal is to connect spirituality with science.
Deepak Chopra is a prolific writer having written over 70 books that have sold more than 20 million copies worldwide. He has received numerous awards including the Oceana Award (2009), Humanitarian Starlite Award (2010), and the GOI Peace Award (2010).
I find Deepak compelling because he has an uncanny way of speaking from the heart and communicating ideas in a very effective manner. He a respectable figure who is working to expand global consciousness.
The seven spiritual laws talked about in Deepak’s book include:
- Pure Potentiality
- Least Effort
- Intention and Desire
Deepak explains each spiritual law and gives useful suggestions so that anyone can incorporate it into their lives. Deepak has a gift of eloquently putting big ideas into a tangible and digestible thought.
I enjoy opening up this book to a random page, reading, and then meditating on the lesson. This book has helped me live a more balanced and meaningful life. It has also helped me in the manifestation of my dreams and understanding myself. I recommend this book to anyone who is on a journey of cultivating meaning and expansion in their lives.
